GUWAHATI/DIMORIA: The AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) and the NESO (North East Students’ Organization) are going to hold a joint meeting in Guwahati on Friday to chalk out their next course of agitation against the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill), 2019.

Talking to The Sentinel on Thursday, AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, “Under no circumstances we’re going to compromise on the CAB. We made this crystal clear before Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the recent meet on the CAB in New Delhi.” The AASU held its central executive meeting in Guwahati on Thursday when it decided to go ahead with its agitation against the controversial Bill.

Meanwhile, the inter-Dimoria Students’ Union, a unit of the AASU, took out a motorcycle rally against the CAB from the AASU office at Sonapur. The motorcyclists went to various places like Topatuli and Malaibari shouting slogans against the CAB. The rally was led by AASU’s Kamrup (M) district unit general secretary Dibyajyoti Medhi.

Talking to the Media, Medhi said, “We’ve no alternative but to take to the streets against the controversial Bill. The Government at the Centre couldn’t gauge the pulses of the people of Assam. It is out to pass the controversial Bill forcibly.”
