GUWAHATI: The All BTC Minority Students' Union (ABMSU) has demanded justice for their president Lafiqul Islam Ahmed who was murdered on August 1, 2017.

Addressing the media, ABMSU president Ashraful Islam Sheikh underlined that on completion of four years of Ahmed's murder, the students' body will stage a protest on August 1.

"Ahmed was shot by unidentified miscreants on August 1, 2017. The then Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had announced that the accused will be arrested within 24 hours. The Assam Police also formed an SIT to solve the case. However, following protests from the masses demanding an impartial investigation, the State government handed over the case to the CBI on October 25, 2017. But, for the last four years, the CBI has not been able to make any information public regarding the murder. No chargesheet has been filed to date. On the other hand, Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Pramod Boro stated that he will take initiative for Ahmed's justice. But he has been maintaining silence since then," said Sheikh.
