GUWAHATI: The education department has been charged with negligence towards duty by the Anti Corruption Youth-Power, Assam, (ACYPA) who raised questions regarding the recent LP and UP TET examinations held last Sunday. A total of 828528 candidates applied for the examination but as per the education department, only 396479 candidates appeared. The rest were cancelled for not possessing D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) certificates.

The education department had previously assured to address the rumours about candidates appearing for the examination with fake D.El.Ed certificates. The ACYPA questioned about the time period when the enquiry would be held. “Fake certificates in large numbers were submitted for the examination. It is bizarre that so many fake certificates could be procured. Also, we would like to ask the education department about the supposed FIR against these candidates,” said president of ACYPA Dharmakanta Gogoi.

ACYPA general secretary Shymanta Das said, “Of the 266000 candidates who did not qualify for the exam, SEBA notified that their fees, which amounted to Rs 8.23 crore, would be returned. What is irksome is that of the huge amount involved, the process of returning the fees has not even started.”
