GUWAHATI: The AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) is going to amend its constitution. The party leaders have already prepared the draft of the amendment that may get all approvals by the end of this year or early next years.
The regional party feels the need of infusing more powers to its various wings, besides making the party in sync with the modern modes of media communications, including the social media.
The prime objective of the party to amend its constitution is plural rather than being a singular one. The BJP, AGP and the BPF together have a common goal – mission 100 – in the 2021 Assembly election in the State. To make the proposed feat a reality, amendment to the party constitution seems necessary.
According to sources in the regional party, the draft amendment of the party constitution will be approved by its central executive soon so as to make it possible for placing before the general house meeting of the party slated to be held in 2019 end or early 2020. Approval from the central executive of the AGP and either of the general house or the general conference is a must for any amendment to the party constitution.
Meanwhile, the regional party which was formed on October 14, 1985 is going to observe its foundation day slated for October 14, 2019 at North Salmara in Bongaigaon district. The regional party was formed in Golaghat after the six-year-long Assam agitation.
