GUWAHATI: In view of Lok Sabha elections 2024, the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) constituted the election committee of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Sunday.

Regarding this, K. C. Venogopal, Member of Parliament and general secretary of the AICC, issued an official circular. The election committee of the APCC is a crucial committee of Congress because they will scrutinize the applications of Congress leaders for the Lok Sabha elections.

APCC has already collected applications from the party leaders of the state who are willing to contest the Lok Sabha elections. After scrutinizing the applications, the election committee will send their views to the AICC. And the AICC will be finalizing the names of the candidates for the elections.

According to a circular, Bhupen Kumar Borah is the chairman of election committee, Debabrata Saikia is the vice chairman and the other members of the committee are Rakibul Hussain, Paban Singh Ghatowar, Rana Goswami, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, Abdul Khaleque, Wajid Ali Choudhary, Pranatee Phukan, Nandita Das, Akon Bora, Bobbeeta Sarma, Rosilina Tirkey, Hiranya Borah, Dwijen Sarma, Ajit Singh, Ranee Narah, Naba Talukdar, Bipul Gogoi, Biren Singh Engiti, Basanta Das, Durga Bhumij, Etuwa Munda, Nirmal Langthasa, Prabeen Baro, Jayanta Kalita, Garjan Musharj, Dr. Hema Nari Pegu, Salilan Sonowal, Karna Bahudar Chetry, Pallabi Gogoi, Mehdi Alam Borah, Abu Saleh Nizzumadin, Jadab Swargiyari, and Pradeep Sarkar.
