AITC to field 16 candidates for second and third phases of Assam Assembly Elections

GUWAHATI: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) announced its candidates' list for the second and the third phases of Assam Legislative Assembly elections on Sunday at its party office here on Sunday.

Addressing the press Assam Pradesh Trinamool Congress chairman Gopi Nath Das stated, "We will not field any candidate in the first phase of the poll. We will field candidates in 16 constituencies in second phase and in six constituencies in third phase."

"We are not expecting less than 40% seats in the upcoming poll. Our party will show a good result in the upcoming poll," he added.

Das further said, "We will take issues like unemployment, erosion, floods, NRC, D-voters for this election. In the coming days the number of candidates may increase."

The six constituencies where the AITC will field in the second phase are No. 6 Hailakandi, No. 10 Sonai, No. 59 Nalbari, No. 68 Dalgaon, No. 90 Jamunamukh, No. 92 Lumding and in third phase from No. 25 Golakganj, No. 26 Bilasipara West, No. 34 Abhayapuri North, No. 37 Goalpara East, No. 38 Goalpara West, No. 39 Jaleswar, No. 44 Jania, No. 46 Sarukhetri, No. 47 Chenga, No. 48 Boko (SC).
