GUWAHATI: AIUDF president Maulana Badruddin Ajmal lent financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of each of the six people who lost their lives during the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation in Assam in 2019.

The six martyrs were Sam Stafford (15 years old resident from Hatigaon in Guwahati) and Dipanjal Das (17 years old from Chaygaon of Kamrup district), Iswar Nayak (25) from Udalguri, Abdul Alim (23) from Barpeta, Dwijendra Panging from Dibrugarh and Azijur Rahman from Sipajhar.

Speaking at the programme, Ajmal said, "The AIUDF has been working for the development of various communities of Assam since its inception. The party has also been playing an active role for the protection of language and culture of Assam. For solution to the long-standing problems of foreigners in the State, the party has been demanding. The government has brought the CAA and we've been opposing it right from the beginning. As many as six youths had to lose their lives in protest against the CAA. We'll continue to raise our voice against the CAA."
