Ajmal to hold meetings at Sankardeva Kalakshetra if his party comes to power

Guwahati: Amid the raging controversy of setting up of Miya Museum at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, the Chief of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Maulana Badruddin Ajmal said that he will organise party meetings100 times more at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. Ajmal told the media that if his party comes into power, he will definitely organise party meetings at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra.

The AIUDF Chief has earlier informed about their alliance with the Congress in the upcoming elections. The Congress party and AIUDF are waiting for All India Congress President Sonia Gandhi's nod for the final formal announcement.

"If we have the chief minister from the Mahagathbandhan (the grand alliance formed by the Left parties), he will also hold meetings from the same place where our present CM Sarbananda Sonowal does," Ajmal further added.

Contrary to his words and hopes, there is a protest against the Ajmal's remarks. The people of the state have clarified that the AIUDF Chief has no right to the Assamese language and the culture, and also, he has no authority over Srimanta Sankardeva.

The Congress MLA Sherman Ali was the first person to propose the setting up of 'Miya Museum' at Sankardeva Kalakshetra. Debates across the state emerged after his controversial statement. Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma even said that Sherman Ali would be jailed if he does not apologise publicly for insulting Sankardeva Kalakshetra by saying that he will keep "Neela Lungi (a sarong type cloth, typically worn by Muslim men)" at the Kalakshetra.

And now it is Ajmal, who is targeting Sankardeva Kalakshetra.

As the controversy is on its way, we can only expect further debates on the issue.
