GUWAHATI: The All Assam Fair Price Shop Dealers' Association (AAFPSDA) on Thursday announced that it will stop the distribution of rice from August if the State government fails to clear their commission dues. The AAFPSDA stated that they have not received their commission from July 2020 which amounts to Rs 642.27 crore.

"The amount of the commission dues is increasing every month. Moreover, the government has also not cleared the commission dues of different types of pulses like masoor dal and chana which the fair price shop (FPS) dealers distributed from April to November 2020," the AAFPSDA underlined.

The body stressed that the FPS dealers are in distress and they have moved to the government many times but all in vain. It is to be noted that there are 38,235 FPS dealers in the State and around 2.51 crore beneficiaries receive free rice from these shops every year.
