GUWAHATI: As per the Gauhati High Court directive on June 8, 2018, workers serving in various departments since the past 10 years or more in the muster roll/ casual/ fixed pay, should be extended the benefits of payment of minimum pay scale.

Taking the directive into stride, a list of muster roll/ casual/ fixed pay and similarly placed workers was drawn up, where the names of 12,106 such workers came up. The All Assam Joint Muster Roll Worker Union (AAJMRWU) complained that these employees who were to receive the same pay as any IV grade government employees’ from December 1, 2018 have been denied of their due. “Almost two years have passed but we have not yielded the benefits of payment of minimum pay scale. If by the end of August the same is not implemented, we will have to resort to protests in various State government headquarters,” said a member of the union.
