GUWAHATI: The All Assam Primary TET Qualified Teachers Association has mentioned that the state government has paid no heed to their long-standing demand that the contractual and state pool teachers engaged across the state be regularised without any conditions attached.

The Assam cabinet had taken a decision that all the posts of the contractual and state pool teachers of the state be regularised if the schools in which they are engaged are able to get an A+ grade in consecutive Gunutsavs organised by the state government. But the teachers’ association called this step discriminatory and asked the government to scrap it immediately. But on May 11, Samagra Siksha Assam (SSA) sent a letter to the concerned parties to verify the details of the contractual and state pool teachers who are engaged in such schools. The association raised complaints against the same and issued a deadline against the same as June 20 after an executive body meeting of the organisation.

The president of the organisation, Trailakya Deka, said, "More than ten days have passed since we put forward our demands to the government, but we see no positive response from the government yet. We have directed our district-level committees to call for general meetings to discuss how to undertake the constitutional protests."

"Even after service of 10–11 years, no steps are being taken towards the regularisation of our posts. No step has been taken by the Assam government towards pay regularisation for these posts. They have agreed many times, but no concrete step has been taken in this direction," he added.
