GUWAHATI: The All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union (AASSKU) moved the Gauhati High Court with a PIL against the State Government not fulfilling the assurance of preference to Sanyogi Siksha Karmis in case of fresh recruitment in the Elementary Education Department.
AAKSSKU president Abul Kalam said, "On February 23, 2016, we had a meeting with the then Education Minister Sarat Barkataky, other top officials of the Education Department and Sarba Siksha Abhiyan, Assam. The meeting decided to accord priority to Sanyogi Siksha Karmis in any fresh recruitment of teachers for Ka Shreni and pre-primary teachers. However, the Government has kept that decision.
"We have been agitation since 2009 for our reappointment as teachers after the SSA abolishing the posts of sanyogi siksha karmis. We raised the demand for reappointing us by holding a special TET. On October 3, 2021, the SSA conducted the special TET for us. Most of the candidates failed in the special TET for various reasons. We have been demanding another special TET for us, but our demand continues to fall on deaf ears of the authorities concerned. It led us to move the Gauhati High Court seeking justice."
