All Assam Students' Union (AASU) recalls balladeer

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) paid homage to balladeer BhupenHazarika throughout the State on Thursday on the occasion of the maestro's death anniversary.

In Guwahati, AASU president Dipanko Kumar Nath, general secretary LurinjyotiGogoi and adviser-in-chief Samujjal Bhattacharya started the tribute-paying functions near the statue of Dr. Hazarika at Dighalipukhuripar here in the morning. From there, the trio went to the Simadhi of the singer at Jalukbari and paid tribute.

This year, the students' union lighted 1,000 flames near the statue in the evening at Dighalipukhuripar. Every year the students' body lights 10,000 flames at Dighalipukhuripar . However, this year they lighted only 1,000 flames because of corona.
