GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) on Sunday reiterated its demand that the flood and erosion problem of Assam should be declared as a 'national problem' by the Centre.
AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath and general secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah said that the people of Assam have been devastated as they are losing their lives, homes, crops and agricultural land due to flood and erosion, but the Centre has not taken any step to treat the flood and erosion in Assam as a national problem. The State Government has also failed to persuade the Centre in this regard, they said.
