GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) will launch an agitational programme to protest against rising prices of fuel, food and other essential items, electricity etc., which will start with satyagrahas at each district headquarter of the State on April 1.
This will be followed by demonstrations by AASU regional unit on April 6.
This was on of the decisions adopted by the State executive of the AASU at the Gauhati University premises on Tuesday, said AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath and general secretary Sankor Jyoti Baruah on Wednesday.
They said the prices of essential items and services must be rolled back, otherwise they could continue to carry out protest programmes.
It was also decided at the meeting that the AASU will organize an academic convention at the Dibrugarh University campus in May-end, which will be followed by a similar convention in Guwahati. A session of the Asom Unnati Sabha and Asom Sena will be held in Guwahati on May 30, they informed.
