GUWAHATI: The All India Ayurved Congress (AIAC) celebrated its foundation day at the Government Ayurvedic College, Jalukbari, on Wednesday in the presence of faculties, students, and members of the Assam branch of the All India Ayurved Congress.
The open meeting of the foundation day was held at 2 p.m. at the college auditorium, organised by the Assam State Ayurved Congress, the state branch of AIAC, New Delhi, and the Platinum Jubilee celebration committee, government Ayurvedic College, Guwahati. The meeting started with the lighting of the lamp and Dhanwantari Vandana. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Shasha Dhar Sarma, and in his welcome address as president of the state branch of AIAC, he briefly explained that this organisation came into existence on May 24, 1907, through the efforts of Vaidya Shankardaji Pade Shastri, an eminent Ayurvedic physician, who organised a meeting in Nashik, situated on the bank of the sacred river Godavari. The joint secretary of the Assam State Ayurved Congress, Dr. Jyotirmoy Sarma, holds the objectives of the meeting and anchors the programme of the function, stated a press release.
