All India Civil Defence and Home Guards Day celebrated

GUWAHATI: Civil Defence is such an important part of a nation, without which no society can march forward with a feeling of safety and security. Civil Defence Personnel and Home Guards have been rendering service with sincerity and dedication, and they act as saviours in times of distress and emergency. This was stated by Guwahati Development Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya, while speaking as the chief guest at the All India Civil Defence and Home Guards Day on Sunday.

The ceremony was held with pomp and gaiety at the Ceremonial Parade Ground, Central Training Institute, Panikhaiti, Guwahati.

In his speech, the Minister laid down the strength of Civil Defence Personnel and Home Guards in the State. On the occasion, he congratulated all the personnel on behalf of the Chief Minister of the State and appealed to maintain the spirit of service before anything else. He also mentioned about government appointments made on compensation ground during this government's tenure.

The Minister inspected the parade and a beautiful march past was held on the occasion. This was followed by demonstration of various techniques employed by Civil Defence personnel during rescue operations, stated a release.
