GUWAHATI: Condemning the NEEPCO blast, the All India Trade Union Congress, Assam State Committee (AITUCASC) general secretary Romen Das said, “The burst in the water tunnel that carries water at 12,000 litres/sec from the NEEPCO reservoir to the Kopili Hydro Power Project site led to massive flooding and a water fountain that rose up to several hundred feet into the sky at 6:30 am on October 7. It flooded the nearby areas near Umrangso, charged up a landslide in a nearby hill and also damaged the infrastructure of the nearby areas resulting in a massive loss.”
