All Koch Yuva Parishad demands Koch Development Council

GUWAHATI: In a fresh new attack, the All Koch Yuva Parishad (AKYP) has demanded to set up a “Koch Development Council” (KDC).

In this regard, addressing the media on Monday, All Koch Yuva Parishad President Parag Koch said that the Koch Rajbongshi Development Council (KRDC) has not helped the community. Koch demanded that Rs 15 lakh from the total allocated funds of Rs 30 lakh by the centre to KRDC should be transferred to other Koch organizations so that they can use it for the linguistic and cultural development of the community. The leader further added that they want ST status for the ‘Koch’ title and they don’t want to be addressed as ‘Koch-Rajbongshis’. “Leaders of various Koch-Rajbongshi organizations have disassociated themselves with the ‘Rajbongshi’ title and they are now involved with Koch organizations’, he added.
