GUWAHATI: Otherwise teeming with domestic and foreign pilgrims, a deserted Kamakhya Devalaya is all set to perform all rituals related to Ambubachi on Monday. Ambubachi will begin at 7.53.15 am (pravritti) on June 22 (Monday) and conclude (Nivritti) on June 25 (Thursday) at 8.16.55 pm.

The devalaya wears a deserted look following the decision taken by the Kamakhya Devalaya Managing Committee not to allow devotees to the temple during the Ambubachi. The managing committee is also not going to hold any mela (fair) during the Ambunachi in the wake of corona pandemic. The Doloi of the Kamakhya Devalaya Managing Committee, Mohit Sarma said, "We're going to perform all rituals relating to Ambubachi with full devotion. As usual, we'll offer bhog before 7.53 am on Monday after which the door of the temple will be closed till 8.16.55 pm on June 25. Since the door of the temple is not opened at night, the door will be opened in the morning of June 26."

Sarma further said, "Devalaya Managing Committee workers and people from the district administration will man all roads in Nilachal Hill leading to the devalaya to prevent devotees from going to the temple during the Ambubachi."
