GUWAHATI: Thousands of Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a demonstration here on Wednesday against the recent budget of the central government.
The workers staged the demonstration in front of the Social Welfare Directorate office in Uzanbazar and have sent a memorandum to the prime minister through the directorate of social welfare with a slew of demands. The workers demanded an increment in salary along with ESI facilities. The protestors questioned- “Can Rs. 6500 per month be sufficient enough to fulfill all the necessity of their family.” Hence the workers demanded minimum wage of Rs. 21000 for the workers and Rs. 18000 for the helpers.
