Angoorlata Deka takes Charge as Vice-Chancellor of Kalakshetra

GUWAHATI: Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, actor turned politician Angoorlata Deka, took charge on Monday.

While addressing the media, Deka said, “Kalakshetra is an important cultural institution and houses the immortal creations of Sankardev. It is home to the various communities of Assam and its cultures and traditions. As the chairman of Kalakshetra, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked us to work as a team and I will ensure that I do my best. There will be both internal and external development.”

On October 20, the newly appointed general council’s first meeting was held, where the Batadraba constitution’s MLA, Angoorlata Deka was unanimously elected. On November 7, the Cultural Affairs department appointed her as the VC of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
