Another arrested in scholarship scam from Nagarbera village

GUWAHATI: The CID (Crime Investigation Department) with the help of local police arrested another accused in the pre-matric scholarship case on Friday (March 5).

The accused has been identified as Nozirul Islam (24) and he was arrested from Nagarbera village, Kamrup during raids conducted on the intervening nights of March 4 and 5.

The CID stated that Islam's involvement was established, during investigation, in misappropriation of scholarship amount meant for students belonging to minority community.

Accordingly, he was produced in front of the Court on Saturday following which he has been sent to two-day police remand.

According to reports, a total of 36 persons have been arrested so far in connection to the case (20/2020 U/S 120B406/409/419/420/468/471 IPC).
