Another case registered against fraudster Mridupaban Neog in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A case has been registered in the All Women Police Station at Pan Bazar in the city against high-profile fraudster Mridupaban Neog.

According to police sources, a woman alleged that she had received threats over the phone from another woman who claimed to be an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). The phone number from where the calls were made was registered in the name of Mridupaban Neog. A case was registered (225/21 U/s 419 IPC R/W 66 (D) of the IT Act) against Neog on Saturday.

Bhagaduttapur police and Nagaon police had recovered many incriminating documents and various items from the house of Mridupaban Neog in the Kahilipara area of the city during a search operation. The search operation was launched following a tip-off from Nagaon Police concerning a fraud case (2328/21 u/s 406/420/170/171/506/507/34 IPC) registered in the Nagaon Sadar Police Station.
