GUWAHATI: The Anti-Corruption Youth-power, Assam on Friday said that there should be a state-wide demonstration against sudden price hike but the whole issue has been diverted into a direction of politics.

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club on Friday, the ACYP, Assam president Dharmakanta Gogoi raised several issues including price hike and its impact upon the people of Assam. Placing the demands of – control in price hike, subsidy in electricity for 100 units in Assam, 50% concession in bus fair for women and also 50% concession in medicine for BPL people, Gogoi said that the Anti-Corruption Youth-power will appeal the people of Assam to think of a political alternative if the government fails to resolve the issues that it promised before coming into power.

Gogoi said, "All of a sudden, the price of LPG cylinders hiked up to Rs. 149.50. In comparison to earlier times, there should be resentment against this. However, the whole issue has been diverted by raising another issue with a 'political turn' creating fight amongst the Ahoms and Muslims. Though we are not in favour of the comments passed by political leaders but we strongly feel that all organizations including the people of Assam should have raised their voice against the price hike. The Government has some propaganda to divert the anti-CAA agitation and all kind of resentment against it. Hence most of the people of Assam and the organizations too have fallen into the propaganda of the government."
