GUWAHATI: The poem titled Lachit (The Warrior), composed by Parthasarathi Mahanta, a police officer and writer-litterateur, based on the great General Lachit Barphukan's corpus of work, his spirited valour, his heroism and adroitness has found expression this time in the voice of celebrated and veteran Bollywood actor, Anupam Kher. The recitation of the translated Hindi version of the poem has been done by Anupam Kher himself. Widely followed by Twitterati, the actor has posted this on Twitter today. The poem has been presented through audio-visual mode on the occasion of the 400th Birth Anniversary of Lachit Barphukan, and the distinguished actor spared no efforts to pay glowing tribute to the legendary hero, on Twitter. He stated that had it not been for the great General, the geographical map of the Nation would have been different today. It may be pertinent to mention in this context that the narration of this audio-visual documentary, initially produced in the Assamese language has been done by Dr Amar Jyoti Choudhury and the poem was formally released yesterday. The audio-visual mode of presentation has been produced by Mina Mahanta and Indrani Baruah. The music has been composed by Poran Barkotoky, a press release said.
