GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora has written a letter to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, seeking solutions to various problems faced by the public during the lockdown. In his letter Bora argued that the government has not introduced new schemes to help the affected people. It said that schemes like National Food Security Act and Krishi Sanman Nidhi are ongoing schemes which provide ration and one-time assistance of Rs. 2000 to the needy families. The party demanded the government to form a new relief package which covers all the affected people including the middle class.

APCC said that people working in unorganized sector should be brought under the government schemes. The labourers stranded outside Assam should be identified and assisted with the help of the respective State governments.

APPC appealed to exempt the fees of both government and private educational institutions till the month of December. It also mentioned that Eri Silk crops are getting damaged as the farmers are not being able to provide water to the fields because of unavailability of diesel to run the machines. They are not being able to use manure due to the closure of shops. The letter urged the government to buy the wasted products of the farmers and also the loans taken by Kisan Credit Card should be relieved.
