GUWAHATI: One of GVK EMRI-Assam employee, Miss Minuwara Begum who is an ERO (Emergency Response Officer) at ERC (Emergency Response Centre) was tested for COVID 19 on June 29, and subsequently was put in quarantine at a lodge near Lokhra office at the organization's expense till her test results were out.

However, in the morning of July 2, 2020, she developed high fever while in quarantine and the management of the organization immediately took her to GMCH for necessary care and diagnosis. The doctors of GMCH diagnosed her and prescribed her medicines and at the same time sent her back to the lodge for quarantine. Even after taking the prescribed medicines, her fever refused to subside and hence the management again made arrangements for her to be shifted to GMCH on the evening of July 2 and she was subsequently admitted into the Emergency ward of GMCH along with a fellow colleague of hers for monitoring and care taking. Her second swab sample was again taken at GMCH on July 3, results of both the tests are yet to be declared, a press release said.

The management contacted her family based in Hajo, Konwar Gaon to let them know of her situation and asked them to immediately plan for her family members to come and take care of her. However, no family member showed their willingness to come and take care of her at GMCH. The management also went to the lengths of contacting the village head and Hajo police to make them aware of the situation at hand and at the same time asked them to convince the family members of Minuwara to come to Guwahati as soon as possible but even after that they refused to come, the statement said.

"We, the management of GVK EMRI-108 'Mrityunjoy' Ambulance Service sincerely appeal to the family members of Minuwara Begum to come to Guwahati and take care of her ailing daughter at the earliest possible," the release added.
