Guwahati: An employee of the Assam Archaeology Department, who was critically injured in a wild boar attack, died at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, an official informed.

The employee, identified as Moltesh Ali, along with four others, was attacked by a wild boar that had wandered into the Ambari area of the city on Saturday; the boar was later killed by locals.

Ali's post-mortem has been concluded and the body was handed over to family members, the official said.

The wild boar had entered an area where the Guwahati Press Club, Archaeology Department, and the Assam Textile Institute, are situated.

The forest department was informed by office bearers of the Guwahati Press Club, but the boar was killed before the forest department personnel reached the spot.
