APCC for judicial probe, AIUDF wants CBI investigation
STAFF REPORTER
GUWAHATI: Reacting to the leakage of the question paper meant for SI (sub-inspector) examination in the State police force, the BJP says that going by its avowed policy of 'zero tolerance to corruption' the government should arrest BJP members first, if any of them are involved in the racket. On the contrary, while the Congress wants a judicial inquiry into the incident, its ally AIUDF demands a CBI probe.
Talking to the media on Thursday, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das welcomed the steps taken by the government to unearth those involved in the racket for the leak of examination paper. "We appeal to the State Home department to arrest all the culprits involved in the question paper leakage. If any BJP member is found involved in the racket, he/she should be arrested first. There shouldn't be any compromise on the zero tolerance stance of the State government. The party is no different on this stance."
Talking to the media at Rajiv Bhawan here on Thursday, APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Ripun Bora said, "The matter should be inquired by a judge of the High Court. Apart from Thank You Lodge at Ganeshguri, a secret examination was held at many places before the examination scheduled for September 20, 2020. All those who sat for the secret examination should be arrested. The scam has turned a shameful page of the State government. CID investigation isn't enough in this scam that has police officers involved in it. The scam should be inquired by a sitting judge of the High Court to delve deep into the matter."
Addressing the media, AIUDF general secretary Hafish Rafiqul Islam said, "The preliminary investigation by the CID has revealed the involvement of a number of BJP leaders also, but the big fishes' names are yet to come to the fore. The scam deserves inquiry by the CBI. Such corruptions came to light in the selection of candidates in the P&RD (Panchayat and Rural Development) department. Nepotism concerning the relatives of BJP leaders also came to light in that selection process."
