Asomi SARAS Mela clocks sales of Rs 8.75 crore: Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass

GUWAHATI: The Asomi SARAS Mela 2023–24, which started on December 23, 2023, and concluded on January 5, 2024, clocked total sales of Rs 8 crore and 75 lakh, announced Ranjeet Kumar Dass, the Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Government of Assam.

Calling the event a massive success, the minister mentioned that the self-help groups from the state participating in this edition of the Asomi SARAS Mela clocked sales worth Rs 5 crore, 53 lakh, while those from the other states clocked Rs 3 crore, 22 lakh. He also informed that a total of 1201 digital payments were made to the sellers during this event, which accounted for Rs 99 lakh and 10 thousand.

Ranjeet Kumar Dass also informed that the Self Help Groups (SHGs) of the state received orders worth Rs 75 lakh 6 thousand during this event, adding that this event will encourage the women of the self-help groups to become self-sufficient and move ahead with their businesses.

A total of 132 stalls at the event were dedicated to self-help groups selling self-made handicrafts, clothes, and food items. Out of 134 stalls, 63 were from Assam-based self-help groups. Apart from Assam, participants from 21 states, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Laddakh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Meghalaya, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal, also took part in the Asomi SARAS Mela 2023–24.
