GUWAHATI: "The indigenous Muslims will play a decisive role in as many as 14 constituencies of the State during the polls. We appeal to the political parties to give tickets to the indigenous Muslims instead of the East Bengal origin ones," said Sadou Asom Goria-Moria-Deshi Jatiya Parishad (SAGMDJP) general secretary Hasiful Islam while addressing the media here on Wednesday.

Islam opined that despite the Goria, Moria, and Deshi people playing a major role in the history of Assam, they are being deprived of basic rights.

"It is pathetic that none of the candidate from our community has been given ticket by the political parties," Islam added.
