GUWAHATI: On Tuesday, the representatives of the Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) including president Dipen Sarma and secretary general Dilip Kalita had a meeting with the Chief Minister of Assam regarding their 22 demands.

Taking to the Sentinel, Dipen Sarma said, “The Chief Minister gave a very positive response with regards to several of our demands, and assured that steps will be taken regarding the solution of these issues. A meeting will be held after Bihu in the presence of the Chief Minister, Finance Minister, officials of all the concerned departments and representatives of SAKP to find solutions to the demands.”

He also mentioned that the CM has agreed on providing a free health scheme for all the government employees of the state and increase the number of earned leaves for the teachers. An ex-cadre will also be created to enable the promotion of the junior engineers while casual master roll employees will get equal pay as the other employees.

According to Dipen Sarma, the problems related to the pay structure of different departments will also be solved and the CM is undertaking talks at various levels to solve the issues related to the pension schemes. He also mentioned that all people appointed before 2005 and regularised thereafter will be covered under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) as per an Indian Government office memo. He also mentioned that Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma is working towards the development of all employees in the state.
