Assam: Dhemaji woman found dead; servant picked for interrogation

GUWAHATI: In mysterious circumstances, the body of a woman was recovered at her rented place in the Hengrabari area on Sunday. The body is identified as that of Anushka Saikia, hailing from Dhemaji.

According to sources, the Dispur Police was informed, and the police soon reached the site, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation regarding the matter. The police picked up the house help, Junu Borah, for interrogation.

According to sources, a team from the forensic department also arrived at the scene and collected evidence, but the cause of death is still unclear.

Meanwhile, locals of the area alleged that the maid and the owner of the house were involved in murdering the victim. A section of people claimed that a woman working as a domestic helper was having an affair with the owner of the residence. The locals also alleged that after Anushkha came to know about the affair, she informed her family members, and this led to a conflict between the two.
