GUWAHATI: A job fair in association with the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled and SC/ST was organized by the Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Dispur College, Guwahati, on Thursday at the Dispur College Auditorium.
The job fair was inaugurated by the Principal of Dispur College, Dr Navajyoti Borah, in the esteemed presence of Arvind Ramteke, Assistant Director, NCSC-DA, and members of the corporate fraternity. Dr. Borah, in his inaugural speech, emphasized on the need to change the mindset of society to consider the corporate domain as an avenue for job-seeking.
To consider the corporate as professional life would not only ensure an increase in the number of employments but also instill an entrepreneurial culture within the students. Dr. Borah also highlighted the commitment of the Career Counselling and Placement Cell as well as the College in general to ensure that students master skills during their academic years and acquire jobs immediately after they graduate or during the course of their studies at the College.
Arvind Ramteke too commended the college’s effort at transforming itself into a skilling and placement hub. He commented on the transition of tradition within job-seeking: Previously, the students visited the employers for recruitment. Now, the employers come to the job-seekers." The job fair was successfully conducted with the participation of six corporate houses. The event witnessed a favourable response from the students, with more than 50 student candidates appearing in the interviews during the fair, stated a press release.
