Assam Election Department to publish draft electoral roll on November 9

GUWAHATI: Following a directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the State Election Department will publish the draft photo electoral roll in the state on November 9, 2022. The department will publish the final roll on January 5, 2023, after the disposal of all claims and objections. The qualifying date for the final photo electoral roll is January 1, 2023.

The publication of the draft photo electoral roll will enable people to file their claims and objections from November 9 to December 8, 2022. The department will dispose of all claims and objections by December 26, 2022.

During the period of claims and objections, the department will carry out a special campaign to bring about awareness on the electoral roll. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) will fix the dates for the awareness drive.
