GUWAHATI: In view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the city, a meeting was held at the Kamrup Deputy Commissioner's office in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Anurag Goel on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various hotels and private hospitals. Addressing the meeting, the Principal Secretary directed the private hospitals to tie-up with their nearest hotels so that COVID-19 infected people are not deprived of treatment due to the unavailability of hospital beds.

Goel emphasized the need of transferring asymptomatic patients to hotels. He also appealed to the hotels to submit their data regarding the availability of rooms and beds to the district administration within a day.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, Health and Family Welfare Director Dr Rathindra Bhuyan, among other officials.
