Assam Government launches pension scheme for widows

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government on Friday launched the ‘Indira Miri Sarbajanin Bidhava Pension Asoni’ under the Panchayat & Rural Development department. Under the scheme, widows aged from 18-59 years will get Rs 300 as pension per month. Initially, four months advance pension of Rs 1200 will be deposited to bank accounts of 1,43,318 beneficiaries. Out of the budget allocation of Rs 135 crore made for the current financial year 2020-21 the government has already released Rs 44.55 crore.
