Assam Government Prohibited Strikes in Oil and Gas Sector

GUWAHATI: In exercise of power conferred under the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act, 1980, the State government has prohibited strikes in the State of Assam for a period of 6 months from 31st December 2019 until further orders, by the officers, workmen, contract Labourers, tankers, drivers and also khalasis involved in the service at Oil and/or Gas sector. This has been done in the public interest and any service in any Oil Field or Refinery of any establishment or undertaking dealing with the production, supply or distribution of Petroleum and Petroleum Products, including Natural Gas will fall under the purview of the said order.
