GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has released new SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to conduct recruitment and entrance examinations across the State.

The recruitment/entrance examinations have been permitted with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols. The examinations will have to be conducted with 50% of the seating capacity in the respective examination hall or 50 candidates — whichever is less. Altogether 300 candidates will be allowed to appear in the examination at any centre in a shift.

On production of valid admit card, such candidates will be exempted from the restrictions on the inter-district movement, movement during curfew hours, odd-even formula of vehicular movement in the urban and also the rural areas.

The candidates will have to wear face masks and maintain COVID appropriate protocol at all times.

At the entry point, the candidates will be screened with a thermal scanner and only asymptomatic candidates shall be allowed to enter exam premises.

The examination halls will have to be suitably sanitized before and after the examination process. Hand sanitizers should be kept in the entry point of the examination hall for candidates and Examiners/Supervisors as per requirement.

A written instruction may be issued to the candidates to be careful in the preceding days of the examination to avoid contact with COVID positive persons, stated the SOP. All asymptomatic candidates can be seated at a distance in a separate room/hall in each centre. "In such halls, the invigilators may be provided all protective materials like face masks, face shield, PPE kits and gloves with sanitizers.
