Assam government to upgrade 561 more high schools to HS schools

The State government has decided to upgrade 561 more High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools to boost up the higher education system in the state.

GUWAHATI: The State government has decided to upgrade 561 more High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools to boost up the higher education system in the state. Earlier, the government had taken a decision to upgrade 1000 High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools. Following the decision, 214 High Schools had been upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools in the first phase. After completion of the first phase, 786 High Schools remain in the upgradation process out of which 561 have initiated.

The Director of Secondary Education, Assam, Mamata Hojai issued an order in this regard. She directed that the school management committees must accomplish the task of building 2 additional classrooms for class II and IV, and fulfilling the need of 5 additional teachers before April 10 this year.
