GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi has conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the people of the State on the occasion of Durga Puja.
In a message to the people, the Governor said, "Durga Puja marks the eternal essence of victory of good over evil and ushers in hope and bright future. I hope that the spirit with which the festival is celebrated strengthens the bond of unity to fight against all evils. On this occasion let us all pay our obeisance to Goddess Durga by pledging ourselves to augur an ambience to promote good and eschew evil."
He also said, "May Maa Durga, the deity of Shakti guide all of us in the path of righteousness and bless us with peace, joy and prosperity. He urged upon all to celebrate the Autumn festival following all the safety guidelines and COVID appropriate behaviour and pray for the betterment of humanity.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday extended greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Durga Puja. In a message, Sarma said, "Durga Puja is celebrated every year to mark the victory of good over evil. May Maa Durga's blessings empower all sections of the society and strengthen peace, unity and camaraderie while driving away all negative forces."
He expressed optimism that Durga Puja celebrations would bring people closer and cement age old ties between different communities and ethnicities of the State. He also urged the people of the state to maintain all COVID19 protocols during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal have also extended Durga Puja greetings to the people of Assam.
Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary also extended warm greetings to the people of Assam on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja. In a message, the minister stated, "May Ma Durga shower upon the people of Assam her blessings for a happy and heathy life. I hope Durga Puja will rejuvenate us all to work for a bright, peaceful and prosperous future." The minister also called upon the people to abide by the COVID protocols and follow traffic regulations during the festive season.
