Assam Governor & CM offer Puja To Goddess Kamakhya After Temple Reopens

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi along with the First Lady of Assam Prem Mukhi paid a visit to Kamakhya Temple and paid obeisance to Goddess Kamakhya and sought her blessings for the development of all sections of the people of Assam on Wednesday.

Visiting the Shakti Shrine at the decent of ‘Nivritti’ which marks the culmination of the five day Ambubachi Mela, one of the greatest spiritual gatherings of the country, Prof.Mukhi this morning offered his puja at the Shakti Peeth for the welfare of the people of Assam. He also thanked lakhs of devotees from the country and abroad who had flocked at the famous Shakti Shrine for making the Ambubachi Mela a grand success.

Governor Prof Mukhi also hailed the efforts of the Temple Management Committee, civil and police administration, volunteers of different agencies for putting in their best efforts in celebrating the Ambubachi Mela, maintaining the highest order of harmony, tranquillity and peaceful coexistence where pilgrims from different regions of the country and abroad have converged to practise and realise the union of mind with the soul. Prof.Mukhi also thanked lakhs of pilgrims who came here during Ambubachi Mela at the Nilachal Hill, the cradle of the Shakti Peeth Kamakhya for maintaining cleanliness and seeking the blessings of the Goddess.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also visited Kamakhya Temple for darshan and worship on Wednesday morning after the temple was reopened at the culmination of Ambubachi Mela that attracts s hundred and thousands of pilgrims and tourists from various parts of the globe.

Chief Minister Sonowal offered his puja and prayed to Maa Kamakhya for the welfare of the people of the state. Ambubachi Mela, a revered annual festival that is celebrated in the picturesque Kamakhya Temple nestled atop Nilachal hills in the heart of Guwahati which on the bank of the mighty Brahmaputra draws huge devotees, pilgrims and tourists. The temple was opened after the Goddess’ usual bathing and daily worshipping and the temple premises witnessed a sea of humans.

Chief Minister Sonowal thanked the devotees and tourists alike for coming into Guwahati for the famous Ambubachi Mela. He also thanked Kamakhya Devalaya Authorities, Tourism and other line departments, district administration, police administration, members of voluntary organisations for their untiring efforts in giving full hospitality to the devotees and promoting Kamakhya Devalaya as an epitome of ‘Basudhaiva Kutumbakam’.
