GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi spent time with 17 participants of National Service Scheme (NSS) contingents from north-eastern states who participated in the Republic Day Parade held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi 2023 at a function held at Raj Bhavanon Friday.
The Governor congratulated the contingent on being a part of the Republic Day celebrations. He said participation in the Republic Day parade is itself a prestigious and life time achievement for the NSS volunteers. He also said that taking part in the parade creates thrill and arouses intense feeling of patriotism.
Prof. Mukhi while underlying the objective of NSS, asked them to inculcate the motto of NSS 'Not Me But You'. He asked them to work for their overall development by inculcating the values like sincerity, discipline and community belongingness. He also asked them to give their best in their academic pursuits and contribute to the development of the country and put the nation before everything. The Governor felicitated the contingent with the traditional gamosa and wished them luck for all their future endeavours. The Governor also congratulated the NSS volunteers of North East on bagging the first prize for cultural performance during the camp.
The Regional Director of NSS North Eastern Region Dipak Kumar accompanied the contingent to the Governor. Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, S.S. Meenakshi Sundaram, and officials from Raj Bhavan were present during the function, stated a press release.
