GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, along with the First Lady Prem Mukhi, visited and paid obeisance at Bhimashankar here on Wednesday. He also held a meeting with the members of the Mandir Management Committee in the temple premises. Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya also accompanied the Governor during his visit.
The Governor during the meeting said, "Situated amidst the lap of nature, the beautiful place has got enormous potential to be developed as a tourist destination." The Governor said he would provide all the necessary support for the temple and the pilgrims. During the visit, the Governor inspected the temple premises and held discussions with Environment and Forest Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya, PCCF Amit Sahay, MLA West Guwahati Constituency Ramendra Narayan Kalita and other officials concerned of the government regarding the beautification and other development aspects of the temple. Earlier, the Governor had also granted fund from his discretionary grant for the development of Bhimashankar temple and its fringe areas.
