Assam Gramin Vikash Bank observes Vigilance Awareness Week

GUWAHATI: Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), the largest regional rural bank in the north-eastern region, observed Vigilance Awareness Week through its branches and offices spread across the State from October 26, 2021 to November 1, 2021. In accordance with the directive from the Central Vigilance Commission, the bank organized a seminar on Vigilance Awareness at the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC) in the city to sensitize the staff of the bank in particular and public in general regarding maintenance of transparency in public life.

On the onset of the meeting, Biplab Kumar Nath, HoD, Vigilance (AGVB) presented the welcome address and narrated the purpose of the meeting to the dignitaries and participants present. The seminar was attended by DK Gawali, Deputy General Manager, NABARD where a large number of bank staff and public participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Gawali appealed to all to be vigilant everywhere to eradicate corruption of any type and he had and interactive session with all the participants on importance of vigilance in public life so as to make the society corruption free on every front. He also administered the integrity pledge to all the participants and staff of the bank organizing the programme.

The meeting was also addressed by Manoj Das, General Manager, Sudhansu Patra, General Manager, and Debashis Gangopadhyay, chairman of the bank. All the speakers stressed the need for eradication of corruption from every sphere and for vigilance in resisting any scope of corruption specially in Banking and Financial sectors of the country.

During the Vigilance Awareness Week, all the employees of the bank had taken integrity pledge through Central Vigilance Commission website. A total of 42 numbers of Gram Sabhas/ Customers Grievance readdressal camps had been organized by the branches of the Bank till October 30, 2021. An essay competition on the topic 'Independent India@75: Self Reliance With Integrity' had been organized by the bank for the staff members on the occasion. A total of eight art competitions had been organized by the branches of the bank at various schools of the State as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week.
