Assam Gramin Vikash Bank's to stage cease-work protest today

GUWAHATI: The Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB) will stage cease-work protest on Monday.

Opposing the proposed divestment of Government of India shares (50 per cent) of Regional Rural Banks (RRB) in favour of sponsor banks and pitching in support for the formation of National Rural Bank of India by amalgamating all RRBs across the country, the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees' Association (AIRRBEA) has called for a nation-wide bank strike of all RRBs on Monday.

Assam Gramin Vikash Bank Officers' Association (AGVBOA) and Assam Gramin Vikash Bank Employees' Association (AGVBEA) being constituents of AIRRBEA, have also decided to join this strike.

Accordingly, all offices and branches of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank will remain closed on September 27. This was stated in a press release by AGVBOA general secretary Jibesh Chakrabarty and Samiran Medhi.
