Assam Police Bust Drug Trafficker Racket, Arrested 5 in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A team from the Geetanagar and Chandmari police station along with a Special Operation Group (SOG) in an operation in the city arrested two persons from the Zoo Road area on Saturday night.

In the first operation, a raid was conducted at Rupali Path House no. 1 in the Zoo Road area and apprehended two drug peddlers along with suspected narcotics. The arrested persons have been identified as Bhargav Giri (24) alias Bablu and Mrigen Bonjang (25).

Meanwhile upon interrogation a massive drug racket was unearthed based on the inputs provided by the duo several raids was conducted in the city- Gandhibasti, Narilokbasti among other areas.

On the other hand, a raid was also conducted in Baihata Chariali's Muktapur in Kamrup District and one person named Khalilul Rehman was appredended. Further another raid took place in Dumunichowki in Darrang District and apprehended two- namely Asique Ali and Motiur Rahman.

It is to be mentioned here that in the entire operation total 340 gms of suspected narcotics was seized worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market and also cash worth Rs 4 lakh along with a car was seized.
