Assam Police receives India Police Awards 2020 for capacity building

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Thursday was awarded the Governance Now - India Police Awards 2020 for Capacity Building, for its novel Assam Police Sishu Mitra Programme.

The SishuMitraProgramme is a holistic Child Friendly Policing Programme undertaken by the Assam Police, in collaboration with UNICEF and UTSAH Child Rights Org Assam.

The SishuMitra Program was launched by the Chief Minister in 2019, and aims to enhance the capacities of the Police Station level Police Officers to respond to child-related cases more effectively and efficiently.

The award was received by Harmeet Singh, Additional DGP, Assam through a virtual ceremony.

This National level award has been instituted by Governance Now, aAdhikari Brothers Enterprise, to recognize innovative programs undertaken by the Indian Police across the country.
