Assam Registers 21,914 Crime Cases Against Women in 2020

GUWAHATI: Assam registered a whopping 21,914 cases of crimes against women in the year 2020, revealed the data of the Assam Police. Out of the total cases, as many as 1,736 cases were registered for rape, 53 for trafficking, 124 for dowry death, 11,389 for cruelty by husband, 4,792 for kidnapping, and 3,820 for molestation.

In Guwahati, a total of 633 cases of crimes against women were registered during the year. While the East Police district registered 288 cases, the West Police District registered 154 cases followed by the Central Police District with 191 such cases.
